In 1920, David Onan started an engine-producing company named Onan Corporation. At that time he was one of the pioneers in the manufacture of power generation equipments and engines. Then in 1986, Onan’s company became a subsidiary of what is then known as the Cummins Engine Company. Now called Cummins Inc., it has become the world’s largest manufacturer of diesel engines. The company specializes on highway vehicles, power generation and industrial equipments, with its manufactured engines ranging anywhere in between 55 to 2,700 horsepower. The name has been changed to Cummins Onan to signify the company’s adaptation of a one company, one voice strategy. With this the company aims to create a more globally known brand.
